on the deconstruction of drawing

Installation view: The Tape Drawing. Medium size masking tape, Interior space.
The Tape Drawing is inspired by John Cage’s approach to sound and music, the deconstructive approach of art by the Fluxus movement and Arte Povera. Its root are going back to the essence of Zen Buddism and Taoism; That what can be named is not what it really is.
So what is drawing? How do we perceive the act of mark making, if it is not done so accordingly to the expectation in our collective mind?
As with the Zen Koan, the buddist riddles as aid to break away from illusion by trying to find logic in the absurdity of the riddles. It is as profound as it is laughable; Yet through humour, this questioning of one’s reality is done so with the aim to deconstruct our own prejudice.
