“Now is the Time of Monsters”
aka A midnight promise on how to make one great versus the other. (Midnight Mass), From the series The Readymade Drawing 3#;
Colour and graphite drawing, videoprojection fade in/out, “Beamer” and tripod.
The 3rd installment of the readymade drawing; a midnight promise…, is a readymade drawing based on a still from the American gothic horror TV series Midnight Mass, directed by Mike Flanagan.
The chosen and cropped still is from a character in the serie: Bev Kean is the assistant of a priest on a remote island, and despite the underlying threat of a vampire that looms over the community, it is the manipulative acts of Bev that creates the devide of the community. Disruptive, narcistic, ambitious and self-serving, dominant, controlling (“bordering on aggressive”) and dauntless/dissenting… all traits of the current political and social manipulation through promoting populism, gaslighting, and the absent of selfreflection.
Drawing from Edvard Munch’s iconic painting, “The Scream”, the work has been an influence for expressing the angst and frustration. This the third installment of the Readymade drawing, in which the process of drawing using projection is demystified, thus to become aware on what we are looking at.

Exhibition view: Pencil drawing, projection, projector and tripod, slow fading in and out (approximate 2 min.)
